   Chief Accountant
The Town of Grand Island is seeking a Full Time Chief Accountant.

Duties include:  The position directs the accounting operations of the Town, and its $25.4 million budget. This is an important professional accounting position with responsibility for maintaining financial accounts and funds in accordance with established accounting procedures of the County of Erie, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations.  The incumbent reports to, and acts as, a responsible financial assistant to the Town Supervisor, participates in formulating policies and programs in accounting matters with other departments and outside agencies, and exercises supervision over a number of accounting and clerical personnel.
Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:
Comprehensive knowledge of:
•    theory and practice of governmental and municipal accounting and auditing
•    modern methods of maintaining and checking financial accounts and records
•    principles and procedures of single and double entry bookkeeping
•    legislation governing maintenance of financial records
Ability to:
•    examine account keeping procedures and to install revised accounting systems
•    perform complex analyses of accounting records and procedures and prepare detailed reports
•    supervise a staff in the preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports
•    get along well with others
•    possess a high degree of accuracy, sound judgement, initiative, resourcefulness, and dependability
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, including or supplemented by twenty-four (24) semester credit hours in accounting (required) and six (6) years of experience in accounting and/or auditing, two (2) years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
Salary Range: $38.51-$44.63/hour
Erie County residency required.

Status: Part-Time
Salary range: $14.20/hour

Position Summary:
The Golden Age Center is looking for a Part-Time Recreation Attendant – Kitchen Assistant, 19 hours/week, typically with hours between 8am – 2pm. Work schedule will be set to meet the needs of the department.
Applicants must enjoy working with the senior population and will have the pleasure of working in a family-oriented atmosphere.  The selected applicant will assist in meal preparation, stocking kitchen supplies (must be able to lift 20 lbs. or more), serve meals to disabled and/or immobile patrons, and do post-meal clean-up, among other tasks.  Flexibility is a must for the selected applicant, as our days are fast paced.  Kitchen, restaurant, and/or cafeteria experience is preferred.  Additional responsibilities include assisting in special events at the Golden Age Center, ability to comprehend, remember and follow detailed instructions. Physical condition is commensurate with the demands of the position.

Employment Opportunity
The Town of Grand Island is seeking to hire a Laborer on a Full Time Conditional Basis in the Wastewater Department.
This Laborer position involves performing routine manual and related work as required.

Minimum Qualification:

  1. Ability to follow instructions, ability to lift heavy weights, willingness to perform routine manual work, willingness to work under all weather conditions at all hours of the day, physical endurance, and good physical condition.
  2. Six months experience in heavy manual labor or any equivalent combination of experience and training sufficient to indicate ability to do the work. Possession of a NYS CDL while not required will be considered a plus.

Salary Range - $18.98 – $23.58 per hour

                      Senior Account Clerk

The Town of Grand Island is seeking a Full Time Senior Account Clerk Typist.

Duties include:  The position works in the Water Billing department with responsibilities to include Full A/R responsibilities; posting to ledgers, registers and other financial records; reconciling and balancing financial reports; preparing a variety of accounting, auditing and statistical reports; maintaining accounts and records in connection with the utility billing affairs of the Town; assisting in more complex phases of accounting.  This position is civil service competitive.

Minimum Qualifications: An Associate’s Degree in Accounting and four (4) years satisfactory accounting experience.
Starting Rate: $22.78/hr
Erie County residency required.
